A letter to the ChicagoMSDC network includes Council updates about operations, recent news, business events and virtual meetings.


Hopefully this message finds you in good health and good spirits despite the crisis we are all facing together. In the past six weeks, our markets have endured a significant amount of personal and business disruption and uncertainty.

ChicagoMSDC will continue to provide our core services that drive our mission. We are poised to support you through the challenges created by the COVID-19 crisis. Business survival and continuity of our network will guide our opportunities to serve our certified minority business enterprises and corporate members.

NOTABLE CHANGES:
ChicagoMSDC is adapting to an entirely new working environment, and complying with all federal, state and local government guidance as we maintain operations.

Here are a few notable changes.
  • Staff will continue to work remotely and remain attentive to all calls and e-mails.
  • All offices managed by the ChicagoMSDC are temporarily closed to the public until further notice.
  • Minority Business Enterprise certification and recertification applications should be submitted online. Certification site visits are still required for new applications. Site visits will be scheduled when they can be safely executed.
  • Business consultations for MBEs will be managed through virtual tools such as Skype.
  • Events and education will be offered via webinars and video conferences.
  • A dedicated team has been formed to enhance our communications and outreach.

ChicagoMSDC is also aggregating valuable solutions from federal, state and local government agencies, financial institutions, assist agencies and business development partners to support our business community. We will publish topics including:

BUSINESS EVENTS AND VIRTUAL MEETINGS:

  • April 23, 2020 | Chicago MBDA Export Center hosts a series of webinars designed to introduce minority business owners to the value of growing their business through exporting. The webinar details will be available at www.discoverafricanmarkets.com.

  • April 30, 2020 | Chicago MBDA Export Center and EXIM Bank will host a webinar introducing MBE’s to export financing products available from EXIM Bank. The EXIM financial products are designed to help U.S. business access working capital, offer credit terms and protect their goods and services with risk insurance in case of default by the customer of civil unrest. Registration begins March 27, 2020.

  • May 14, 2020 | Chicago MBDA Export Center and KFA, Inc.  will host TECHNET. This event is the second in a series that is offered every other month at the ChicagoMSDC office (or virtually).
